Smelt Feed and Pet Supply, Inc., was established in 1946 and was purchased by the Smelt family in 1981. Jack, Sr., the founder, is still active in the business, which is now controlled by his son, Alton. The business has operated in eastern Ybor City since its establishment. In 1985, the family built a new warehouse and relocated to their present site at 4116 E. 7th Avenue. Many of our employees have been with us for 15 years or more.

From its early days as a traditional feed store serving mostly farming and ranching needs, Smelt Feed has grown into one of the Southeast's largest suppliers of speciality animal lines and is a primary source for many of central Florida's zoos and animal attractions and a wholesaler to pet shops and private breeders. Many exotic bird and reptile breeders have discovered that Smelt Feed provides some of the most complete lines of product available anywhere. We are able to carry and stock many items others can't because of our long standing relationships with the zoologocial and breeder communities. And, because we can buy in volume, we can keep prices low.

Smelt Feed also carries its own private label brand of speciality bird feed. Check out our Taylor Made brand, which is popular with many of the Southeast's largest bird breeders.
